Written with blood: Israel and Estonia on the edges of Crimea
The directions of future cooperation in the spheres of economy, cybersecurity and agricultural production were discussed during the meeting by the governor of the Kherson regional state administration Serhii Kozyr, Secretary-General of the Estonia Ministry of Foreign Affair Jonatan Vseviov, Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Kaimo Kuusk and Deputy Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Joav Bystrytsky. They came to the Kherson region on a working visit.
Due to the fact that today one of the priorities for Ukraine is to create a security complex, the representatives of Estonia stressed the need to further support the provision of information, communication and cybersecurity in the region. As the Secretary-General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affair Jonatan Vseviov noted, the Kherson region is located on the administrative border with Crimea, and therefore on the advanced fight against the hybrid aggression of Russia. At present, this is a question not only of the deoccupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea but also of world security.
“Estonia remains a reliable and strategic partner of Ukraine in the international arena, primarily in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state and countering Russian aggression, and supports Ukraine’s European integration and Euro-Atlantic course. So, we are very grateful for your support. I am convinced that our meeting today will be a good impetus for new projects and cooperation between countries and regions, “
said Serhii Kozyr, governor of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
To get acquainted with the situation at the temporary border, Secretary-General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affair Jonatan Vseviov, Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Kaimo Kuusk, together with Anton Korynevych, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea visited the administrative boundary line with Crimea.
And during the meeting with the Deputy Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Joav Bystrytsky, the governor of the Kherson region, noted that for many years Israel remains an important strategic partner for Ukraine. Serhii Kozyr stated that the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Israel entered into force this year. This will increase Ukrainian exports to the partner country, strengthen friendly relations, in particular in the areas of economic cooperation and trade, and develop investment cooperation between the countries in the field of irrigation. For his part, Joav Bystrytsky is convinced that the agro-industrial sector of the Kherson region has incredible potential for development and investment.
“One of the priorities of the regional state administration team is to create innovative irrigation technologies because due to climate change, the region’s farmers need to adapt to new challenges. I hope that Israel, as a leading expert in the field of water management in the international arena, will help us with practical experience and technology. I am convinced that the Kherson region has something to entice the Israeli partners, “
said Serhii Kozyr.
Serhii Kozyr invited all honoured guests to visit the region again in the summer. Because on June 10-11, 2021 the International Investment Forum “Southern Development Strategy” will take place on Arabat Spit. It will be the main regional event dedicated to topical issues of economic development of Ukraine, southern regions and the temporary border with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
