
Showcase we waited too long for
Kyiv has formed a strategy for building a temporary border with the occupied Crimea. The First International Investment Forum «Southern Development Strategy» will take place on June 10-11. The forum was initiated by the governors of Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, and Odesa regions and the Forum team.
The event will combine the existing developments on the reintegration of Crimea and create new investment opportunities for the development of a temporary border with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Arabat Spit will be the venue of the Forum, just 14 km from the temporarily occupied territory. The leaders of the state intend to directly participate in the discussion of projects designed specifically for this event.
For the first time in 7 years, the President of Ukraine issued a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine on March 11, 2021 «On the Strategy of Deoccupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol».
The Southern Development Strategy Forum is planned by the executive branch as a presentation space for infrastructural projects of socio-economic development of the Azov and the Black Sea regions. The regional authorities have united because all 4 regions of the South of Ukraine from Mariupol to Izmail are connected by a common logistics and industrial infrastructure. In addition, each of these areas is surrounded by three Russian armies and blocked by the enemy fleet. That is why the attention of the international community will be turned to the problem of stable and safe development of temporary border communities with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The common position of the Government of Ukraine and Brussels (European Commission, European Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) during the joint meeting in February, the priority of the regions of Southern Ukraine for financing social infrastructure and investment into business projects.
In 2021, Ukraine’s investment potential will have some growth prospects. Therefore, part of the necessary funding this year and next will go to the southern regions.
